Genius project by photographer Irina Werning

Following on from my previous blog looking at funny portrait and how portraits have evolved, i came across this photographer via a friend of mine. His concept is brilliant! check out ....

Irina Werning

I love old photos. I admit being a nosey photographer. As soon as I step into someone else’s house, I start sniffing for them. Most of us are fascinated by their retro look but to me, it’s imagining how people would feel and look like if they were to reenact them today... A few months ago, I decided to actually do this. So, with my camera, I started inviting people to go back to their future.

2010 ONGOING PROJECT...by the way, this project made me realise Im a bit obsessive...

TIPS: WHEN PLANNING A PORTRAIT SESSION

TIPS:When planning a portrait session

Unlike other studios, we don’t have silly terms and conditions that prevent you from coming in if a family member is missing, but we do encourage clients to include all the family in the photo session. We understand that sometimes parents are reluctant to have their photograph taken which is fine, we know the feeling ourselves, which is why we will ensure you are comfortable throughout the session and will endeavour to make the experience all the more fun when directing you as a family, even if mum and dad only jump in the for just the first five minutes of the session and then take a back seat. The Nu:nuu photography experience is a far cry from the average sit on a fur rug, say cheese and look into the camera photo session. It is very relaxed and lots and lots of fun!

TIPS:What to wear?

Nice bright, strong bold colours! Stripes work great too! AVOID white and pale/pastel colours. Also try to avoid any small busy prints.

TIPS: What personal items can I bring along?

Anything goes! If it represents you and your life at this moment in time, BRING IT! For the ladies who say “I’m just a boring mum now” NO we bet you are not! Accessories such as hats, sunglasses and scarves work really well as do handbags and shopping bags.

Some examples of items we’ve seen in the studio so far include:

Hats, hats and hats! Lots of hats. Sunglasses – one client brought 10 pairs! He loved sunglasses! Drum kits, wii remotes, BIG chocolate cakes (yum!), and every type of musical instrument you could imagine! Newspapers, mugs, horse riding gear, art sets, flowers and we’ve even had a variety of pets including snakes and lizards! Not sure how well we would cope with spiders but will cross that bridge when we come to it (yes…we are wimps). …we would happily photograph a small pony in the studio but unfortunately no space for a race horse just yet!

...and that’s just a small example!

ALWAYS BRING TOO MUCH INSTEAD OF TOO LITTLE!

We will have a look through everything together on arrival and we will advise what will work and what might not just so we really get the best out of your session.

What is nu:nuu photography?

NU:NUU = NEW GENERATION PORTRAITS

As you work your way down the time line you will see how family portraits have changed over the years. from from miserable faces looking like assassins to families looking like someone has just passed wind in the room or poked a stick up their bottoms and uptight dads. All these expressions are strictly forbidden from nu:nuu photography!
We call this the Assassin look.
I
The 1950s stick up the bottom look.

Ah the 80's...the dad just farted look.
Nu:nuu.... Real smiles: Its all about who you are as a family not just what you look like!
Nu:nuu photo sessions consist of family shots, individual shots as well as a variety of group shots...for example, or all the girls together for big cuddles and then we usually have brothers and dads roughing it up and fighting it out as boys do. We capture the real love-hate relationship between siblings as well as beautiful individual shots within one photo session. We are here to capture your family and your relationship with each other at this moment in your lives.

Dec 2010...Being snowed in at my cousin Jenna's house, we decided to walk a few doors down and hijack our Nan's house! What could be more fun than to do some half naked photos in the snow! Nan was not impressed and most confused. Grandad kept wandering around making sure we didn't fall in the snowed over swimming pool like we were still 5 years old! Reminiscing about it now though, when it snowed as kids we did actually try and ice skate on the old pool when the grandparents weren't looking!

See Jenna below all grown up with considerably less clothing in the snow part 2. he he...Love you Jenna x
